Will Decaf Coffee at Night Stop Me Sleeping?
Why Dreamliner Decaf Might Be the Best Part of Your Evening Wind-Down
Sunday evenings have a certain mood, don’t they? A bittersweet blend of calm and creeping chaos. The emails start rolling in, your work brain starts switching on, and you’re craving the ritual comfort of coffee... but it’s 8pm. Is it safe?
Let’s clear the cabin air on this one: yes, you can drink decaf coffee in the evening. And no, it won’t ruin your sleep - at least, not if you’re choosing a quality decaf like our Dreamliner Decaf.
The Myth: “Decaf Still Has Caffeine, So It’ll Keep Me Up”
It’s true that decaf isn’t completely caffeine-free, but the amount is minimal, typically just 2–5mg per cup, compared to 80–100mg in a standard cup of regular coffee. According to sleep researchers and dieticians, this small amount isn’t enough to disrupt most people’s sleep, even if consumed just before bed.
What’s more, the Swiss Water Process used to decaffeinate beans (like ours) doesn’t involve harsh chemicals. It’s all done through water, time, and temperature, so you’re left with beans that are 99.9% caffeine-free, and 100% flavourful.
The Science Backs It Up
Recent studies show that drinking decaf in the evening doesn’t significantly affect sleep quality. In fact, some experts believe the mental comfort of a warm, familiar drink might even help you wind down, triggering a kind of Pavlovian signal to your brain that it’s time to switch off.
Of course, if you’re ultra-caffeine-sensitive, it’s always smart to listen to your body. But for most of us? A dreamy cup of decaf is nothing to lose sleep over.

If you’re looking to unwind in style before Monday’s madness begins, here’s a silky smooth recipe I always turn to.
Dreamliner Decaf & Oat Milk Nightcap
Ingredients:
- 18g Jet Bean Dreamliner Decaf (ground for espresso)
- 100ml oat milk
- Dash of vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of ground cinnamon
Method:
- Pull a double espresso shot of Dreamliner Decaf using your espresso machine or stovetop brewer.
- Steam or heat oat milk until gently foamy, don’t let it boil.
- Add a tiny drop of vanilla if you fancy a sweeter edge.
- Pour the milk over your espresso, sprinkle with cinnamon, and sip slowly.
It’s creamy, calming, and just the right kind of indulgent to finish your Sunday strong, without feeling wired before bed.
So next time you’re hovering near the kettle on a Sunday night, wondering if it’s worth the risk, remember: Dreamliner Decaf is designed to take the edge off, not keep you up. Here’s to smooth landings and softer starts to the week ahead.
