What an incredible day it was as Jet Bean Coffee brought the world's first private jet coffee shop experience to the bustling streets of London's Chiswick Food Market! It was a pivotal moment for us, a chance to connect with coffee lovers and showcase our unique concept before we truly take to the skies.
From the moment we opened our doors (or rather, our jet's hatch!), the response was overwhelming. The buzz was palpable, with curious crowds gathering to glimpse inside our bespoke jet and, of course, to savor our expertly crafted coffees.
Our journey to redefine in-flight coffee isn't just about the novelty of a jet; it’s about a relentless commitment to quality. The enthusiastic response in London confirms what we already believe: the world is ready for exceptional coffee at 40,000 feet.
To deliver on this mission, we've equipped Jet Bean Coffee with a setup that belongs in the world’s best specialty coffee shops. We are serious about coffee, and our equipment is a testament to our mission to truly transform the coffee experience in aviation.
The Powerhouse Espresso Machine: Our coffee is pulled by a La Marzocco 3-Group Machine. La Marzocco is the gold standard in the specialty coffee industry. Its dual-boiler system and PID temperature control allow us to program and maintain the exact, perfect temperature for every espresso shot. This thermal stability is non-negotiable for consistent, high-quality flavor, whether we are on the ground in London or preparing for take-off.
The High-Precision Grinder: Complementing the La Marzocco is the Mahlkönig E65 GBW Grinder. The 'GBW' stands for Grind by Weight, a revolutionary technology that eliminates inconsistency. By weighing the dose in real-time as it grinds, this machine ensures that we use the precise amount of coffee every time, guaranteeing consistency and eliminating waste—a crucial factor for a high-efficiency operation like ours.
The Perfect Bean: We proudly use an organic single-origin Bossa Nova Brazilian coffee. This meticulously sourced bean offers a rich, smooth flavor profile that we believe is perfect for both espresso and milk-based drinks. The care taken in its cultivation translates directly into the cup.
The Cream of the Crop: For our milk drinks, we choose nothing less than organic, whole, non-homogenised milk from Goodwood. Non-homogenised milk retains all its natural fat particles, resulting in a creamier texture and a richer taste. Paired with the technical excellence of our La Marzocco, this milk steams beautifully, allowing our baristas to achieve that silky microfoam essential for perfect lattes and latte art.
A Paved Runway to the Skies
The success we saw at Chiswick, with the incredible volume we served and the flawless quality we maintained, was the ultimate proof-of-concept for our equipment and processes.
This experience was a pivotal step because:
-
Stress Testing the Setup: Operating in a high-volume public market subjected our equipment and workflow to the intense pressure of a real-world, busy commercial environment—a perfect analogue for the demands of an aircraft cabin.
-
Validating Consistency: We demonstrated that our carefully programmed machine, paired with our Grind by Weight technology, can deliver consistent quality to hundreds of customers. Consistency is King in commercial aviation, where space and time are limited, and luxury is expected.
-
Building the Brand Experience: The attention we received, including from public figures like Jeremy Vine, shows that the combination of a novel concept and exceptional product is highly newsworthy and memorable. This strong brand profile is precisely the kind of partnership value we offer to future airline collaborators.
By mastering coffee on the ground with world-class equipment and ingredients, we are perfectly positioned to bring this level of quality to the air. Our coffee isn't just good; it's technically perfect, designed for the most discerning traveller.
Stay tuned for our next update as we continue to talk to leading airlines about bringing the Jet Bean Coffee experience to the clouds!
