Before I ever stepped onto an aircraft in a glamorous uniform, I spent my mornings behind a marble espresso bar at a luxury hotel in Surrey. Back then, I believed that a perfect espresso was the result of technique, timing, and a touch of magic.
I still believe that. But these days, I’ve swapped my apron for a trolley and a smile, serving coffee at altitude and craving quality when I’m home. That’s why Jet Bean’s Jumbo Jet Espresso has become my go-to for making espresso that tastes like it’s been poured by a professional, and it hits just the right spot to prepare for a long day of flying!
If you’re serious about your espresso, here’s how to get it just right with this bold, balanced roast.
Why Jumbo Jet Espresso?
This is the blend that gets coffee lovers and frequent flyers talking. Jumbo Jet Espresso is a medium-dark roast with deep chocolate notes, a silky crema, and just the right lift of caramel to keep things interesting. It's rich without being bitter, smooth without being bland, exactly the balance we aimed for back at the hotel bar.
Whether you’re brewing with a top-tier espresso machine or a simple home setup, the blend holds its own beautifully.
Tia’s Jet Bean Espresso Method
What You’ll Need:
- Fresh Jet Bean Jumbo Jet Espresso beans
- A burr grinder (don’t skip this, fresh grinding makes all the difference)
- Espresso machine (manual or bean-to-cup)
- Tamper
- Timer
- Your favourite espresso cup
1. Start with Freshness:
Grind your beans just before brewing. Aim for a fine consistency, like table salt. You want 18–20g for a double shot.
2. Perfect Your Dose & Tamp:
Distribute the grounds evenly and tamp with firm, even pressure. A flat, level bed is key for even extraction.
3. Time Your Shot:
Extract for 25 to 30 seconds. You’re looking for a steady flow—like warm honey. Stop once you hit around 38–42ml for a double shot.
4. Check the Crema:
Jet Bean’s blend gives a thick, golden crema—that’s your sign it’s dialled in. If it’s pale or thin, adjust your grind finer next time.
5. Sip Slowly:
Take a moment to appreciate the aroma - chocolate & caramel with a walnut whip twist, and let the shot cool for just a few seconds before sipping.
Tia’s Top Tip
If you're feeling indulgent (and who isn't before a long flight?), pair it with a piece of 70% dark chocolate. This helps the caramel notes in Jumbo Jet Espresso really come alive.
Final Thoughts from a Barista-in-the-Sky
I’ve made coffee in a lot of places, from five star hotel bars to rattling galley trolleys, and the truth is, nothing beats a well brewed cup at home with beans you trust.
Jumbo Jet Espresso has become my first-class ticket to better mornings. It’s a little taste of luxury, grounded in barista quality craft.
That's it from me for now, enjoy the brew and see you in the skies!
