Jet Bean Coffee: Brewing the Perfect Cup at 1,000 Feet – Have We Just Solved Airplane Coffee Forever?

Five days ago, we took Jet Bean Coffee’s mission to the skies. Literally.

Most airplane coffee tastes… well, questionable. Burned, bitter, or weirdly watery. It’s time to change that. So instead of talking about it, we proved it could be done — not in a café, not in a kitchen, but brewing coffee at altitude in a real aircraft.

The Flight Plan

We headed to Semet Aviation at Blackbushe Airport — a buzzing flight school where pilots run on caffeine as much as avgas. We shared our mission: transform the way we drink coffee on aeroplanes.

Their reaction? Show us a pilot who doesn’t love coffee.

That’s when they did something incredible. They handed us a PA28 Piper Cherokee, a pilot, and a green light. All we needed now was our secret weapon: the OutIn Nano Portable Espresso Machine — a travel coffee maker that can brew anywhere, even at 1,000 feet.

Pre-Flight Coffee Checks

The plan was simple: taxi out, climb to circuit height (1,000 ft AAL), brew, drink, stow, and land.

Brewing Coffee at Altitude

At exactly 1,000 feet, the moment came. Out came the OutIn Nano — our portable espresso machine for pilots and travellers. In minutes, the cockpit filled with the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee.

We took a sip. Smooth, hot, and absolutely nothing like the usual in-flight fare. This was coffee for adventurers, brewed mid-flight with zero compromise.

Our cameraman in the back caught every moment, from the pre-flight grind to the celebratory sip before descent.

Landing the Idea

The stunt became our Instagram reel: "Have we solved aeroplane coffee forever?" — and it reached over 11,000 views in just days.
We didn’t just brew coffee in a plane. We proved that with the right gear, you can brew coffee anywhere — on the ground, on the road, or even in the air.

Why We Did It

This wasn’t just a caffeine stunt. It was about proving our mission: great coffee shouldn’t stop when you leave the ground. Whether you’re a weekend flyer, a bush pilot, or a frequent traveller, Jet Bean Coffee and the OutIn Nano make it possible to enjoy barista-quality coffee wherever you go.

We think we’ve just raised the bar for in-flight espresso. And we’re not stopping here.
